The development of power supply system in the region

First electric power station with capacity of 115 kilowatt was started-up in Vologda in may 1904. First rural electric power station was built in 1930 on Komel River in

Gryazovetsk uyezd (district). In 1945 specialized organizations Selelectro were created, the electrification of the Region continued on a larger scale.

The completion of construction of Vologda combined heat and power plant with capacity of 25 megawatt in august 1956 was very important for Vologda power supply.

Including Vologda region into the Unified Energy System of North-Western part of Russia allowed for a new approach to power supply in the region. In 1974 Konakovo State District Power station - Cherepovec VL 500 kW with a substation 500 kW Cherepoveckaya.

On December 31, 1978 Cherepovets State District Power plant with installed capacity of 630 megawatt was accepted for operation. In 1980 high-voltage line - 500 kilovolt Kostroma State District Power station - Vologda with substation (with capacity of 500 kilovolt) Vologodskaya, and then high-voltage line- 500 kilovolt Vologda-Cherepovets were built. All that provided reliable power supply for Cherepovets industrial hub. Today 50% of electric power is provided by means of own sources, the rest is received from power supply systems of other regions: Tver, Kostroma, Kirov, Leningrad, Yaroslavl.
